The Red Cross Assistant Water Safety Instructor course is the first step toward becoming a Water Safety Instructor of the Red Cross Swim Program. This is your chance to develop skills to become the best AWSI possible. Some of these skills include:
 Providing a safe and learning-friendly environment for swimmers;
 Working with swimmers of all ages and abilities
 Developing strategies to communicate with swimmers of all ages;
 Creating enjoyable learning situations; and
 Influencing swimmers in the Red Cross Swim Preschool, Red Cross Swim Kids, and Red Cross AquaAdults programs to develop water-safe attitudes, and swimming and water safety skills.
